Work Fit (10 weeks, starting 8 August)
22 August 2017 @ 9:30 am - 1:30 pm
Put the spring into your job search!
Do you need support to get your next job? Do you find it hard to write a good CV or cover letter? Do interviews freak you out?
Then Work Fit is the course for you!
It’s a 10 week course running 3 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) from 9:30am to 1:30pm.
Job hunting tips and tricks
On Work Fit, you’ll practise everything you need to get a good job.
Identify the skills you have to offer employees
If you’re just coming out of school, it can be hard to know what skills you have to offer. Or, if you’re changing careers after 20 years, you might not be sure how your physical job is relevant in an office. All skills are transferable! You just need to figure out how.
Make a CV you can be proud of
On Work Fit, we won’t just help you to create a CV. We’ll help you to create a CV you actually understand and can talk to in an interview.
Be more confident in interviews
Interviews are nerve-racking. Our bodies are wired for stress in interviews.
The only way to get better is to practise. We’ll help you learn how to sell yourself to potential employers in a way that makes you feel good about yourself.
Get a support crew behind you
Searching for a job is lonely and boring work. You send off application after application, only to get rejection after rejection.
The other people on Work Fit will keep you motivated and on task when your enthusiasm starts to drop!
Use computers to find and apply for jobs
These days, almost every employer expects people to email to apply for jobs. It’s just how it is.
If you don’t have computing skills, on Work Fit you’ll learn how to send emails and respond to job online ads.
Gain Unit Standards (optional)
Having some recent unit standards is a good way to show employers that you mean business. That you’re smart and motivated. If you’re keen, we can build these into the course for you.
Work on your learner driver licence theory (optional)
Lots of jobs in the Nelson/Tasman region require a driver licence. If you’re a bit nervous about taking the learner driver licence theory test – we can help!
We’ll also cover work topics like:
- your legal rights when looking for work
- how to find jobs in this region
- first aid
- getting fit and healthy
- problem solving at work.
