1 in 5 people in New Zealand have difficulty with literacy or numeracy.

Adult Learning Support is a not for profit organisation that works with people to enable them to take opportunities, make choices and fully participate in their communities. We are a member of Literacy Aotearoa one of New Zealand's largest literacy organisations.

Our Services

Our programmes are a mixture of one to one, small group and computer based tuition:

  • Basic skills like reading, writing and spelling
  • Workplace literacy for safety, quality and work related qualifications
  • Study skills help with further education and apprenticeships
  • Basic maths and computing
  • Life skills such as preparation for work, driver's licences and completing forms

Rough Justice and Caught in the Act are collections of short stories aimed at reluctant male readers. Quirky, amusing and occasionally politically incorrect, they are an entertaining snack for all readers. Check out the books here.

Christmas holiday closure

Adult Learning Support will be closed for the holiday period from the 21st of December. We will reopen on the 16th of Janurary.

We'd like to wish all our staff, learners, tutors, volunteers, governance and the agencies that we work with a Merry Christmas and a great holiday season. We look forward to seeing you again in the new year.
