About Adult Learning Support
We believe that literacy is a fundamental human right. Helping people in Nelson/Tasman to improve their literacy and numeracy is our sole focus.
We are a not for profit organisation and a member of Literacy Aotearoa, one of New Zealand’s largest literacy organisations. We have been helping people since 1975.
So today we graduated from the Parenting and Life Skills course we've been doing for the past 10 weeks. I've had such an amazing time! I've met some amazing people and learned a lot. Thank you for this opportunity. Couldn't have done it without Cameron and Ella.”

Literacy opens doors and empowers people to make changes in their own lives. The social, economical and health benefits of literacy are well documented.
More than 40% of New Zealanders aged 16 – 65 years have low literacy levels. Although most of these people can read and write, they can’t meet all of the literacy demands of everyday life and work, meaning that they have difficulty handling a large range of printed materials encountered in daily life.
